C.M.R. Horse & Mule Games

A picture is worth a thousand words......

The Old Dominion Draft Horse and Mule Association hosted a horse and mule games fun show on Sunday, July 10th, at the C.M.R. Farm Show in Culpeper, Virginia. Registration began at noon and the show started at 1 p.m. All proceeds benefited the local 4-h club.

There were driving, riding and non-horse games. Each participant paid $5 to compete in a class or $20 for the day. Each participant was invited to participate in each class with their choice of riding, ground driving, or using a cart or sled. Classes included barrel racing, pole bending, log skidding, obstacle course, hay bale moving, and the barnyard pull.

Despite the heat, we had many spectators come out to watch the teamsters demonstrate their abilities. The stick horse races proved to be a crowd favorite again!

We are extremely proud of all our participants!  The pictures above show that everyone did a terrific job and everyone enjoyed themselves.  The youth participants had unlimited energy!  We had participants that had never touched the lines until Sunday morning and they did an amazing job in their classes.  The youth participants gave rides in the ring to interested spectators.  It's great to see everyone getting involved and sharing!

Thank you to everyone that volunteered to help with this event. Your help was greatly appreciated. Thank you to Mary and Junior Haney for providing lunch for the workers!
